As we eagerly approach the Easter Long Weekend is it the chocolate we crave or the days off?

Easter makes for one of the busiest times on the road, with many people eager to make the most of the extended break.

Every week Australia needs over 27,000 blood donations, with demand over long weekends being greater than supply as many regular donors head off on holiday.

Blood is vital for life and for many people, blood donors are their lifeline. It is interesting to know that although much of the donated blood goes to people who have suffered traumatic accidents, burns, and those undergoing surgery, the majority goes to people with cancer.

Currently only 1 in 30 people give blood, but 1 in 3 people will need a blood donation in their lifetime. A single donation can help at least 3 different patients & can help make up to 22 products.

Dark chocolate has more iron than a piece of red meat, so if you need a good excuse to indulge in some dark chocolate, donate some blood today. For more information on how to donate please go to theAustralian Red Cross Blood Service

Wishing everyone a Safe & Happy Easter. I hope that that the only hangover is a chocolate one!
