I’ve been asked to give our readers a sneaky peak into my role as a Digital Media Designer with Fluro Training. I joined the company with the overall goal of launching our very first online training program, the Construction white card course. I’m very happy to report that it went live in December! My mission was to develop and design the course, which included re-branding the existing content, looking at the overall structure and fixing any bugs. I also had the opportunity to use my illustration skills when developing short animations for each module, which was really fun!

I’m very happy to report that it went live in December! One of the biggest challenges I encountered during the whole design process was learning a new piece of software, called Lectora. I’ve always used Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign at previous jobs, so developing a course in this new software took me firmly out of my comfort zone. Thankfully I managed to pick it up quickly with help from Rebecca (our Instructional Designer) and the very supportive team at Lectora.

With any new product or service it’s important to promote it. Therefore, I was also asked to help development a social media strategy for Fluro. We started by setting up a Linkedin company profile and branding their Facebook page with our cool little characters. We also created this blog which continues to let our readers know about hot topics in workplace safety and much more.

As you can tell, I did a whole heap of tasks ranging from design through to strategy, and that’s what I loved about the role. I like to be busy and feel like I’m making a difference.

It was great to work with Amanda and her team and I can honestly say that my days were never dull and always went far too quickly!
