White Card Online

In Australia it is a legal requirement that all workers involved in construction work have completed general construction induction training (commonly known as the “White Card”) before they are permitted to commence work on a construction site.

To obtain the White Card you will need to complete the nationally accredited Unit of Competency CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

Fluro is an accredited training organisation and delivers the White Card Training course online.

On successful completion of our White Card course, participants receive a White Card and a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency.

Note: The previous White Card Unit of Competency CPCCOHS1001A – Work safely in the construction industry has been superseded and is no longer available.


Learning Outcomes

  • Identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work.
  • Identify construction hazards and risk control measures.
  • Identify health and safety communication and reporting processes.
  • Identify incident and emergency response procedures.


Course Pre-Requisite

There are no pre-requisites for this course.


Course Assessment

Participants are required to complete:

  • an online assessment; and
  • a verbal assessment, to be done by video call (e.g. Skype – a webcam/smart phone and PPE are required, please refer to notes below)

The assessment is conducted by an authorised Fluro Assessor and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The verbal assessment consists of 26 questions. It can be completed on weekdays, between 7.00am and 5.00pm (AWST).

During the verbal assessment participants are required to demonstrate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  Therefore, prior to commencing the verbal assessment participants must ensure that they have the following PPE available and ready for use:

  • Safety helmet / Hard hat
  • Eye protection (safety glasses)
  • Hearing protection (ear plus or ear muffs)
  • High visibility (hi-vis) vest

In cases where participants are from a non-English speaking background and/or have difficulty in communicating in English, Fluro may engage the services of external providers for translation and interpretation services. Where this is required, additional fees will apply from $65 + GST for up to 30 minutes with an interpreter. Higher fees will apply if more than 30 minutes is required.

Participants must successfully complete their verbal assessment within 6 months from course enrolment. Where the verbal assessment is not completed within the 6 months, participants will be required to complete the course again.

Who needs to undertake construction induction training?

Anyone currently employed, or seeking employment within the Australian construction industry.


Can I complete the White Card online?

Yes and our White Card online course is also a (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) and is a nationally recognised unit within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

What this means is that White Cards issued anywhere in Australia by a Registered Training Organisation are nationally recognised and mutually accepted by all States and Territories.


How long does it take?

It can take less than 4 hours to complete the course, depending on your existing level of experience and knowledge.

How quickly will I receive it?

Once you have successfully completed the course, we will email your WhiteCard Statement of Attainment within 1 business day. You can use this as evidence of completion of the course. Your hard copy Statement of Attainment and plastic WhiteCard will be mailed to the Australian postal address you provide at enrolment.


Unique Student Identifier (USI)

If you’re studying nationally recognised training in Australia from 1 January 2015, you will be required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

International Students

How long is it valid for?

Once the White Card online training has been successfully completed there is no mandatory requirement to repeat the training.

The national code of practice for construction induction training, which is an advisory document, provides an option for repeat training if a person leaves the industry for more than two years, or, if the employer considers repeat training necessary.

Hence, It may be the case that some employers require repeat induction training, in accordance with the code, as part of safety and health management processes.

In New South Wales, the WorkCover Authority currently state that the White Card ceases to be current if you have not carried out construction work for any consecutive period of two years or more. For further information please refer NSW WorkCover or contact us for more information.
